Annagh Road Diversion .

In order to construct the Annagh Road Tie on the southern side of the new N5 the local traffic from the Annagh Village on the Northern side of the new N5 will have to be directed Westwards along the Annagh to Claggarnagh Access Road.

This route will take traffic underneath the new underpass at Claggarnagh East exiting out on the main N5 Westport to Castlebar Road West of the Aughagower Junction. See Map Below

The N60 Breaffy Rd will be down to one lane to complete earthworks, drainage, kerbing and surfacing works between the end of August 2022 and Mid October 2022. Long delays are expected and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are urging motorists to obey traffic signals and flagman at all times and we thank you for your co-operation.

Traffic management will be in place on the N5 at Knockranny between September and December 2022 to allow for the construction of the new roundabout.

  • An application has been made to Mayo County Council for a short term road closure for a number of side roads to allow the wearing course to be placed between the 7th – 11th of November

Westport Area – Coguala Road

Castlebar Area Horsepark Road and Islandeady Road

  • The 60kph Roadworks Speed Limit Order has been extended for another year at the locations where the works interact with the existing road network.
  • The next phases of traffic management on the N59 will be operational to facilitate the on-line construction works.
  • Traffic Management will be set up on the N59 at Deerpark East to construct the realignment of the N59 into the new roundabout.

In order to safely complete the construction of the a number of side roads and associated bridges, applications will be made to Mayo County Council to close the following:

  1. Slaugar Rd L-5846 ( 31st May to 31st October 2022 )

The duration of each closure will vary depending upon the existing road alignment compared to the new road alignment and bridge structure. A signed detour will be operational during the road closures. Whilst we recognize that the road closures will cause inconvenience to the residents, the closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the workforce and road users.

However, in some locations, a long term closure can be avoided by constructing a localized road re-alignment around the works. These localized road re-alignments will be established on a number of roads including the following:

  1. Keelogues Rd L-1711
  2. Breaffy Rd N60
  3. Belcarra Rd L-1704
  4. Islandeady Rd L-1811

  6. Derrada Rd L-4849
  7. Coguala Rd L-5848
  8. Lodge Rd L-5847
  9. Newport Rd Tie in on the N59
